Charis is a midwestern listening bar in the heart of Bridgeport, Chicago. After years in the beverage and hospitality industry, Charis’ owner Alex Jandernoa set out to open a laid back, welcoming bar where excellent cocktails can be shared and music can be listened to and appreciated.

The approximtately 1,200 square foot space was designed by Alex’s longtime friend Shaun Sundholm of Sundholm Studio and is reminiscient of a basement bar in the Midwest - inspired by Alex’s childhood in Western Michigan - but with more sophisticated finishes.

In addition to serving as General Contractor for Charis, Vero also crafted the space’s extensive millwork, including the bar, bar back, record shelving, curved banquettes, slatted wall cladding, pegboard art wall, and coffered ceiling (inspired by the traditional Japanese ceiling style “go-tenjo”).
