Vero’s custom millwork and decorative metal highlight our buildout of Dispensary 33, Chicago’s first cannabis dispensary. Our work on this project received an award from American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2022. 

Dispensary 33 was our first foray into the world of retail cannabis and it kickstarted what would become a very cool, very interesting new speciality within our business. Retail cannabis in Illinois is subject to many restrictions in terms of display, guest interaction, and product distribution, among others. So designers and builders working in this space have to come up with creative solutions to make the dispensary functional and beautiful while working within the tight parameters of the law. 

We love working within these kinds of perceived limitations - it gives us the opportunity for real problem-solving and innovation.  And we’re very happy to have been able to work on several more dispensaries in Illinois, including general-contracting the buildouts for Dispensary 33’s Andersonville and West Loop locations.
